My story
As a teenager I could not afford to buy many fashionable clothes. I grew up in Northern Finland as the youngest in a family with 4 girls and 1 boy, so I wore a lot of hand-me-down clothing. I created new outfits by reimagining how pieces complemented each other and augmented them with new items that were a bit quirky, certainly stylish and always high quality.
When I first got my own room, I applied the same principles to my personal space: my love of beautiful fabrics, textures, patterns and colours extended into interior design and home decoration.
After initially pursuing a different professional career in Finland and later Germany and The Netherlands, I started my own business as a Benelux distributor and agent for Finnish and Scandinavian fashion and interior design brands. Marimekko, Aarikka, Vuokko and FinnFeelings were some of the brands I represented. It proved to be a great career change. It gave me the opportunity to follow my passion. The reward was observing how enthusiastically people reacted to different fabrics and fabric designs, and especially the impact of colours and patterns. This became my life’s work.
Many years later, mother of two grown-ups, married to my Dutch husband, when we lived in Australia I finally took my greatest passion to a new level: I am now designing fabrics myself and creating products through which I can share my stories with you.
